Clear Context 5 – AWESOME GOODNESS!

This holiday I was reminded how busy I had been when I got an rss feed post from the folks at Clear Context.  It was letting me know that Clear Context 5 has been released and detailed the key changes. Being a long time fan, I hurried out to get the latest version. One of the first things I noticed, sadly, was the loss of the folder context.  This was a feature that I used almost every day as it allowed me to find files in an organization that insisted on sending files through email rather than on some share.  Once I read this post though, I realized that I had been underutilizing the project dashboard and that I could still do what I needed to there.  Nice job on eliminating the redundancy!

Some of the other things that really make this version stand out is the new one click filing with a more intelligent suggestion engine.  This was somewhat of a pain point in previous versions for me so I am really excited about this.

You can see how easy it is to quickly select a category if one is not known.  You will also notice in the bottom right of that image that there is a ‘Mail Files’ button.  This is another very cool feature that I have been waiting for a long time since it now allows me to manage my multiple email accounts across multiple pst’s.  HOW FREAKIN’ COOL is that!

All the standard features you have come to love and expect are still here as well, with some added bells and whistles.  Creating tasks, appointments, and unsubscribing from those long drawn out conversations.

One last new feature to highlight, no scratch that, SCREAM FROM THE MOUNTAINTOPS is the “Undo File” action.  I cannot tell you how many times I have hit Ctrl+Z only not to have my message come back.  Now, I can use that feature to save me some time of having to navigate was has become a large list of project folders to have to get to the message.

If you have a lot of email in your life, or if you just want to be more organized, Clear Context 5 is a must have for Outlook.  With the new Undo File, Multi-mail file support, one-click filing, this version of Clear Context is the ‘bee’s knees’
