As you may or may not know, nDoc does not work with .NET 2.0. It had a problem handling generics. Recently, the developer behind nDoc notified the community that he was not going to continue working on a .NET 2.0 version of the tool. Microsoft hinted a while ago that they were going to release an nDoc style tool that Microsoft use in-house to develop the MSDN documentation. This has come to fruition with the CTP release of “Sandcastle”.
Unfortunately, “Sandcastle” is very much still a technology preview. It is functional, but it does not come with either a GUI, or MsBuild scripts (these are both planned for future CTP/RTM releases). At this stage, it is a very manual and laboured process. There are people in the community who are developing combinations of GUIs & scripts to help smooth the process. I will be keeping my eye out for the tool that makes generating HTML Help documents realistic.
